Transcendence

Came home to listen to Brahms's 2nd Symphony. This proved a remarkably sensible thing to do. A reminder of a world elsewhere. Something outside myself. Bigger and better.

And I didn't even listen particularly well. Imagine if I were able to. Complete escape. Blimey.

Got back to the Tallis fantasia, RVW. Sigh, I think in conjunction with Jerusalem, it makes me think of some imaginary island of Britain as the world elsewhere, bigger, better, and unthatcherised. :D silly, I know.

Yes, yes, yes! (But not silly.)

By the way, have been enjoying your recent posts on our nation's real anthem. The only anthem I've ever been able to sing with complete and utter commitment, by the way. The only one that really can make me weep.
